Growth & Doppler

When can this scan be done:
24 – 40 weeks
The aims of the scan:
- To assess the growth of the baby
- To determine the amniotic fluid volume, does the baby have enough space?
- To check if the placenta/afterbirth is in the correct position for vaginal delivery.
- Doppler is a method used to assess blood flow to confirm the baby is still receiving enough, especially if the baby is not growing well.
- If there was no formal 20 – 22 week detail scan done before, the structures of the baby will have to be assessed at this point.
